You may have noticed that I have been a little absent lately. That is because I have been busy moving to a new country! Most of you who have been following me for a while now know that I was living in Paris, France. But, after 5 years of living the Parisian life, I moved back to Canada for a short time, then I packed my bags again and moved to the United States!
I now call Asheville, North Carolina my home! So, I am once again getting familiar with a new country, and will be taking you, my readers, along on my adventures! But not to worry, I am not totally done with France. I will still be writing about French lifestyle, and the best places to visit in Paris. I am also finishing up my book about my life in Paris, so you can read all about my Parisian adventures in a novel!
But, getting back to my new life in the U.S, so far it has been an amazing experience. Living in the mountains of Asheville is like living in a dream. The scenery here is stunning, and the people are beyond friendly. They still have that “Southern charm!”
So why Asheville you ask?
Well, I got married to James, who is American and lived in Florida. Since he wanted to move out of Florida, we decided to start our new life together in Asheville (which is almost directly in between Florida and Ontario). This will make it easy for both families to come and visit!
We had a few choices on our list of possible places to live, but once we came to Asheville, we ended up falling in love with it so fast, there was no doubt that we wanted to make Asheville our home.
Asheville is a small city tucked in the mountains of North Carolina. The scenery and mountain views here are beautiful, and I don’t think I will ever tire of looking at them.
You may have heard of Asheville as it is home to the Biltmore Estate. Thousands of tourists come to Asheville each year to see this historic home. I have not been to see it yet, but do plan on getting a season pass so I enjoy the exhibitions and gardens throughout the year.
Asheville is a city that has a thriving arts community. The River Arts District, or RAD as the locals call, it is home to warehouse spaces full of artist studios. Many of the old warehouse building along the river have been turned into these studios and you can do tours to see everything from glassblowing and ceramics to painting. When we first arrived in Asheville, this is where we rented our first Airbnb!

The downtown area is full of restaurants and boutiques, so it goes without saying that I can spend hours at a time there. There is even a bead shop, so I have everything I need here!
We live in house that is actually built into a mountain. We are about half way up the mountain, so we have some beautiful views, and even had a bear walk through our back yard a couple of weeks ago.
Since moving to Asheville, I have been slowly getting to know the city. As I find out more about living in south, I will be sharing my adventures through my blog. I hope you all enjoy my new life adventure as you come along and discover the south with me!
