Have you ever wanted to learn Haute Couture Beadwork and Embroidery?
This is your chance to learn the traditional French techniques still used in Parisian atelier’s today!
I am offering my “Intro to Haute Couture Beadwork and Embroidery Class” once again at the end of the summer. This class is an intensive 3 day class held on three consecutive Saturday’s. This will provide a week between each class for practice time.
Classes: August 19th, 26th and Sept 2nd : 11am -4pm
Location: Burlington, Ontario
The historical technique of applying beads and sequins to fabric known as Tambour/Luneville beading or Crochet de Lunéville will be covered in this 3 day course.
Unlike other techniques, beadwork and embroidery is accomplished with a special hook and a fabric stretched tight as a drum. The technique is popular on International Catwalks and can be seen in shows by Chanel and Dior.
Luneville or Tambour embroidery as it is called in the States is a hand embroidery technique that uses a small crochet like hook to work stitches one at a time on the underside of a piece of fabric that has been stretched across a frame. In this three day class, you will learn the basic Luneville stitches using the Luneville hook tool.
The first day will be spent stretching the fabric in the fame, learning about Haute Couture embroidery and trying the basic stitches.
The second day will be spent learning more stitches that include stitching with beads and sequins.
The third day will be for finishing your sample fabric and learning some 3D stitches.
All materials for the class are included in the price. Materials include, organza, Swarovski crystals, metallic threads, sequins, charlotte beads. The Luneville hook and fame is also included in the class price.
After living in Paris, France for over 5 years, and earning a certificate in Professional Couture Embroidery and Beadwork at Lesage (an atelier owned by Chanel), I have created this class to teach the embroidery technique that is used to create beautiful beaded and embroidered fabrics.
Couture embroidery is seen all over the Parisian runways and I have translated what are usually seen on designs for Chanel, and Dior and will be teaching you to create your own beautiful, couture wearable fabrics.
