Karl Does Christmas

In this month’s edition of Harper’s Bazaar US (Jan/Feb 2014), Karl Lagerfeld speaks about his feelings for Christmas and the holidays.  Photographing his team for this Harper’s Bazaar issue, he draped each employee in yards of silver garland which is a little out of character for Karl.  The article states that he hates Christmas day and would rather stay home with his beloved cat, Choupette.  As for New Year’s eve and any resolutions, the designer goes on to say that he does not believe in those either, because he does his resolutions all year long!

This little glimpse into Karl’s feelings about the holidays just add to his peculiar, yet interesting character that I just can’t seem to get enough of!  Another one of Karl’s quotes that made me laugh earlier this month was “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.”  I know he is controversial and sometimes ridiculous, but no one can deny that he is a great designer for Chanel who has always kept the iconic heritage of the brand in his vision.

Of course, Karl’s pick as a perfect Christmas gift was a Chanel purse.  Was this on your list?  Pick up your copy of Haper’s Bazaar Jan. 2014 edition to read the full article!

I have read his interviews in French, and I too find him an amazing personality. Yes, a Chanel purse is on my list, I still am on the lookout for the perfect one!! 🙂
