Hi! My name is Sarah and I am the face behind Glimpse Creations. I am an award winning jewelry designer and lifestyle blogger who recently spent 5 years living in Paris France. Here I will share my adventures in Paris, Fashion, Crafting and Food!

Paris January Sales 2014

♫ It’s the most wonderful time of the year ♫ Yes, it is sale time in Paris!!  France has some sort of law that only allows stores to hold sales twice a year.  One is in January and the other is in July.  The January sales started today (January 8th) and will run until Feb.11th 2014.  I always look forward to the sales in Paris and have spent many hours lining up just to take a look at what the shops have for sale!  Last July, I lined up for 45 mins in department store Galleries Lafyette just to get a glimpse at the Marc Jacobs bags that were on sale.  Unfortunately once I got into the the pod, I found that I didn’t really love any of the designs that were on sale!  I must admit that half the fun of the sales is being in amongst the thousands of people looking for that perfect deal.  I also like the fact that the sales include high end designers such as Chanel to low end like H&M, so there is a chance for everyone to get a good deal!

My first stop for the sales today was the original Chanel boutique on rue Cambon.  Once through the door, I was greeted with crazed women in pursuit of Chanel on sale.  The shoe room is where the sales are at Chanel, so each design is separated out into size.  I gazed in my shoe size section for the perfect pair of Chanel shoes, and found a pair of boots that were amazing!  Black, 4 inch heels adorned with 3D Camellia leather flowers covering 90% of the boot.  I was in love until I checked the price.  Originally 3000 Euros (approx. $4000), but on sale for 2400 Euros.  If I win the lottery, I know what I will buy!

Next, I wandered the streets window shopping the luxury brands and going into the more affordable stores.  BCBG Max Azria had a good sale offering 30% – 50% off most of their pieces.  Did you know that there is a chic little cafe on the top floor of the BCBG shop called Cafe Max?  It makes a great place to rest and get some food in between all your shopping adventures!

I finally made my way over to check out the new shopping mall that opened in my old neighborhood.  The mall called, Beaugrenelle is located at the Charles Michel metro stop, and is not to be missed if you are shopping in Paris!  I was impressed with the clean, spacious 4 story mall with lots of different shops.  For me, the best part is the 4 story Marks and Spencer that has a large food hall.  I ended up leaving the mall with a new pair of pants and a dress from Zara, and a bag full of food from Marks and Spencer!

The Paris Sales are on until Feb.11, and shops usually keep marking prices down towards the end.  So, I will be out shopping a few more times before then!
