Christian Lacroix will have a short couture comeback designing for the house of Schiaparelli this coming July. The designer will unveil his collection in Paris at the upcoming Couture shows in early July. The original location of the Schiaparelli workshop in Place Vendome will host the collection consisting of reinterpretations of the late designer’s famous creations. Following Lacroix’s collection, the workshop will host an annual event which will showcase various artists and creatives that will give their interpretation of the late designer.
Lacroix launched his own fashion house in 1987 but sadly filed for bankruptcy in May 2009. He was also creative director at Emilio Pucci between 2002 and 2005. I have always been a long time fan of Lacroix’s couture collections, and was heartbroken to in 2009 to hear that he was closing his couture atelier. However, I was made extremely happy when I was able to purchase some pieces from his atelier to use in my own creations. Here is a piece that I created using a hand painted metal and ceramic brooch that I incorporated into a stunning statement necklace!
