Although I am not physically in Paris this time for Couture week, my soul is still there. I am usually snapping as many photos as possible and running from show to show through the streets of Pairs this time of year. This year, I am relaxing in the sunshine of Florida and checking out the Couture shows online. With so many social media outlets, I am able to catch photos and updates of the show almost per second!
Chanel started the day yesterday morning with Karl Lagerfeld showing his latest couture collection consisting of feminine, flowing gauzy layers. Set in a garden-like stage, Karl showed feminine pieces that showed gothic undertones. Feathers made pieces pieces light and airy while models had heavy black eye makeup, black leather thigh high boots and long black leather gloves that created the darker side to the overall look.
Dropped shoulders also made an appearance giving the iconic Chanel jacket a twist this season. Beautiful flowers on many pieces were embroidered with sequins, glass, and crystals. Despite the immense amount of time and skill needed, they were crafted in such a way that they felt subtle and easy. Overall, this was another beautiful handcrafted Couture collection from Chanel.
