Alexandre Vauthier Couture SS 2012

On a wet rainy night in Paris at Les Beaux-Arts de Paris, Alexandre Vauthier showed a beautiful collection of soft pastel colored gowns.  The beautiful venue situated along side of the Seine came to life with a runway lit up with fluorescent lights as a backdrop to the flowing dresses as they walked down the runway.  Sitting front row at the show was Beth Ditto from the band “The Gossip.”

The show started and models made their way down the runway showing soft pastel mint green, lavender and white flowing gowns.  They were delicate and soft, yet somehow still portrayed Alexandre Vauthier’s usual sexy futuristic vision.

Pastel chiffon gowns were shown between futuristic versions of the little black dress with protruding hip bones and bold shoulders.  Under the dresses were PVC pants to add an edgy side to the dresses.

Metal neck pieces and cuff bracelets adorned in large sparkling Swarovski crystals were a nice juxtaposition to the flowing soft fabrics of the gowns.  The sparkle of the large crystals in the neck pieces were absolutely beautiful.

Overall, Alexandre Vauthier showed a beautiful collection that was soft and feminine, yet bold and edgy filled with sparkling Swarovski crystals.
